INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGING YOUR CENTRAL A/C FILTER
To save money on electrical charges and prevent damage to the air conditioning and heating system (HVAC), you must change your filter every month, it’s required in your leasing agreement that you do so! We have included several videos below to help you with this monthly responsibility.
It’s really easy to do every month:
- CAUTION: Never open the return air grille with the a/c running.
- Turn off the HVAC unit and open the return air grille where your filter is located.
- Remove the filter and look on the edge for the correct size e.g., 20″x20″ or whatever size yours is.
- Vacuum the grille and frame with the unit off and the filter removed and wipe down any stubborn dust.
- Replace the filter and note the small arrow indicating the airflow direction making sure the filter is fitting from edge to edge.
- Close the door and turn the unit back on.
- Inspect the filter one more time to make sure the filter is still in place with the unit running.
